About Pineau
Pineau is then purely natural product, a French speciality loved by connoseurs all over the world. Without any additives, flavoures, dyestuff or conservants, it is the blend of the fresh grape juice and selected Cognacs. Blended within 24 hours from the harvest and consequently matured for at least 3 years in oak cask. As well as Cognac, also Pineau is under very strict control of the committee, which is needed to be shown on each bottle. The difference between the quality of each producers and vintage comes entirely up by the different quality of the harvest, the quality of the cognac and the period of maturing.
History of Pineau
According to the legend, Pineau arose in 1589 by mistake, when one wine-grower poured out pressed wine squash into the cask, considering the cask as empty. In fact,it wasn´t empty, there was still rest of cognac. The wine-grower has forgotten on the cask, and after years he has tasted its content. Whowever it was, the method of production Pineau is still the same - in the begining there is a blending of cognac with wine squash of recently pressed grapes and then it matures in oak casks from 3 to 10 years.
