Martell V.S.O.P (Very Superior Old Pale) is a welcome guest at any gathering from a large dinner party to an intimate 'tete-a-tete'. Smooth and mellow, its fullness holds up well to ice or mixing. The label bears a gold medallion engraved with the portrait of Louis XIV, in the last year of whose reign (1715) Martell was founded.

The story begins in 1715 when Jean Martell moves to Cognac. His company quickly grows in size and reputation. Just six years later over 200.000 litres of Martell Cognac are being exported to the British Isles. On the death of Jean Martell in 1753 a new generation takes over and sons, Jean and Frédéric, change the name to J&F Martell but carefully safeguard the company's reputation for quality. In 1912 Edouard Martell creates Cordon Bleu, recognized by Cognac connoisseurs around the world as a true classic. Today Martell is present in 140 countries.
