The LARSEN Firm was founded in 1926 by Jens-Reidar Larsen, a young Norwegian, who arrived in Bordeaux in 1919. He settled shortly afterwards in Cognac, charmed by the inimitable atmosphere of the small Charentes town and there, discovered the refinement of its famous eau-de-vie. Having become a fine connoisseur, and driven by an innate business acumen, he bought the small firm of Cognac Joseph Gautier and then launched his own "Larsen" brand which soon prospered in Scandinavian markets, particulary in Norway.
Having married a native of Cognac, he had a son, Jean, who took over the Larsen firm and made the brand prosper around the world. The third generation, Nicolas and Frédéric, has already taken the reins of the family business and made the brand an international symbol of sophistication and quality. Today, there is proof that this encounter between men from the north and a tradition, the fruit of a French regional soil, can achieve remarkable results. Moreover, the Larsen family likes to recall that, contrary to common belief, the term "Viking" does not refer to a nation, or an ethnic group, but to a state of mind which was that of the ancient conquerors who left the Scandinavian coasts to travel the seas and the world, in particular, to Cognac.
