"This may be the finest Champagne house virtually no one has ever heard of. These traditionally made, wood-aged Champagnes include a luxury cuvee, the Grand Cru Ay Fut de Chene, which is reminiscent of Krug in a slightly less oxidized style. Full-bodied, and tasting more like a honeyed white Burgundy with bubbles than a Champagne, this is a stunning effort. The exquisite, full-throttle, truffle-scented is fresh, and loaded with concentration."

The Champagne winefield is located at the northernmost limit (49.9°N) the severity in France for growing grapes and wide range of extreme climatic conditions, generate two contrasting features in the production of champagne.

In the first place, our non-vintage brut, the result of skilful blending, is the hallmark of our maison. This wine reflects the character of the vinegrowers, men of even temperament with a mischievous sparkle in their eyes, who have acquired the necessary expertise and ingenuity to shoulder the hard work involved in overcoming the hazards of the weather. Thus conveying the same message, the same passion and the same magic for every bottle opened, day after day, year after year.

In contrast, our vintage champagnes, produced exclusively from exceptionally fine harvests, embody the distinctive qualities of the year and reflect a sharp contrast in the character of the vinegrowers. Warm-hearted, generous and at the same time discreet but opening out progressively. Our vintage wines evoke memories of the early spring, the shimmering heat of a dry summer or even the chilly mornings at the end of the season when one senses a tang of minerals on the tongue and a taste of menthol on the palate.

The vineyards set the scene for the orchestra conductor who presides over each vintage wine with his talents of maestro : a challenge he accepts at every harvest. The audacity with which he directs a majestic symphony or a modest concerto, is remarkable.

Champagne

Champagne is a sparkling wine produced by inducing the in-bottle secondary fermentation of wine to effect carbonation. It is produced exclusively within the Champagne region of France, from which it takes its name. While the term "champagne" is used by some makers of sparkling wine in other parts of the world, numerous countries limit the use of the term to only those wines that come from the Champagne appellation. In Europe, this principle is enshrined in the European Union by Protected Design... read more »
