The business plan to make liqueurs and spirits was conceived in mid 1991, based on a family tradition, which originated in 1935 and was terminated by force in 1948. The Metelka family ran a catering establishment alongside the production of alcoholic beverages in Vyškov.
The end of 1991 saw the beginning of the construction of a distillery in Moravské Prusy, and of the conversion of a family house into an alcoholic beverage factory. The distillery was finished in April 1992 and as from 1 May 1992, production was launched. The initial production was concentrated on consumer spirits such as 40rum, 35apricot brandy and 40vodka. During the year 1993, this narrow range was widened by 40brandy and a 23apricot liqueur, which marked the growing interest of the market in weaker sweetened fruit-flavoured liqueurs.
However, strengthening competition in this industry prevented the company from increasing its turnover significantly, which resulted in a decision to build a high-capacity plant and its own sales network. An aggressive business policy brought success in supermarket chains throughout the republic. (DELVITA, GLOBUS, INTERSPAR, KAUFLAND, CARREFOUR and so on). This success in selling products made the management of company Milan METELKA - production of liqueurs and spirits increase investments in enhancing the production capacity. The firm´s expansion was begun in early 1997 and finished at the end of 1998. The investments reached several million crowns.
