"This wine smiles in the face of modern viticulture and will, quite frankly, upset someone. It has the nerve to render to modernity the vanishing auchtochtannal Tuscan vines: Abrostine, Barsaglina, Foglia Tonda, Pugnitello, Prugnolo, Aleatico, Canaiolo a Raspo Rosso, Ancellotta, Colorino. Stepping forward for their Renaissance (Rinascimento) is the face on the bottle: the face of the native Maestro di vigna of Dievole. (There are six different faces in the same case of wine). End of October these grapes are reintroduced into the new wine to "govern" it, to promote and reveal varietal character to the fullest and fruitiest extent; they strengthen this wine with vigour and density to release forlorn fragrances. The method of "Governo" belongs to the past and - let's face it - to Dievole. Here's a wine with the face to face-up to those faceless wines on the face of earth. It is not, how a wine is made. It is, what it's made of. And that's beyond face value.
