Vintage or Millesime Cognac

Tha difference between Vintage (Millesime) Cognac and traditional cognac V.S., V.S.O.P. or X.O. signatures is that every bottle of Millesime contains only Cognac made of grapes from that particular vintage / year. The vintage eau-de-vie is used even for compensation of natural losses which occurs while ageing in oak barrels - the so-called 'angel's share'. Only thus is ensured that every cognac bottle will be 100% vintage. These luxury and highly regarded Cognacs are appreciated for ther uniqueness - every vintage has a specific character. Cognac, named after the town of Cognac in France, is the most famous variety of brandy, produced in the wine-growing region surrounding the town from which it takes its name, in the French Departements of Charente and Charente-Maritime. According to French Law, in order to bear the name, Cognac must meet strenuous legal requirements, ensuring that the 300-year old production process remains unchanged.
